Evening Ride around the Valley

I guess we must be restless, because it wasn't long before we had the bikes out and on our way out of town. We head out to Golden Valley Road and other backroads into Lacomb. We wind our way down to Crabtree creek where I finally have to stop and ditch the buff around my neck. Ron takes out the camera and makes a nuisance of himself, before I can get back on the road.
We cross Larwood bridge, but don't stop. There is another biker there enjoying the peaceful evening. We head toward Richardson's Gap with the sun glaring in our eyes. South on Richardson's Gap Road past the old Bohemian Hall. I don't know if this is it's actual name. But that's the name I know it by.
Beautiful Sunset from Hidden Valley Road.

A little ride last Sunday

After a beautiful ride on Saturday, and a lovely ride this morning on the Suzi's we decided to take another short ride on the bicycles. We picked our favorite loop along the South Santiam River.
Train trestle crossing the Santiam.

We stopped at the diversion dam for a few pics and just to hang out for a bit.
The artsy, textural, ooh look at the pretty rocks pic!
Fish ladder

I don't know how people take this kind of self portrait and come out looking good, but it seems this type of portraiture is required these days.
More artsy, funky, knarly root stuff...better known as sweepers or strainers. It really belongs on the outside curve of the river so my kayak can rush right in to its waiting limbs.
One more shot of the dam, this time from the opporsite shore. We stopped on the other side to rest after trying to out ride a fellow on a cruiser. Turns out he had a little electric motor - cheater! Really, we were just cheered that he was getting out and riding as much as he could. He spent a lot of time pedaling, and had rode from Lebanon to Waterloo and back, or about 8-10 miles.

Daily Commute - 04-07-09

Note to self: Point the camera lower.

Sunny skies and no rainpants today. I decided to do a little more practice taking pictures from the bike. Nothing I was aiming for ended up in the frame. Nice to see blue skies though!

I'm not very good at this blogging thing. I don't want to stop and take pics, and I can't make fancy google maps. This weekend we finally have some great weather. Sunny and warm. On Sunday, Ron and I spend the morning trying to decide what to do. Bicycle? Motorcycle? We finally settle on...both. We did a quick morning run on the Suzi's over to Brownsville and through the hills to Marcola. We continue on along the McKenzie River and down to Armitage Park. We stop for a quick snack and to soak up some sunshine. Then back on the road through the cute town of Coburg and back north to Brownsville then home. After lunch we dug out the other two-wheelers and went for a ride along the Santiam River. A perfect day.
In a couple weeks we will be doing most of this route (Brownsville-Coburg-Marcola-Brownsville) on bicycles. Can't wait!
