Yaquina Bay Bridge

Keep your feet on the ground, but let your heart soar as high as it will. Refuse to be average or to surrender to the chill of your spiritual environment.
A. W. Tozer

This is an older photo...I had to go look...2004 Ancient! I didn't remember having a digital camera for that long. Oh well, back on topic. Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport. Coincidentally, a bird flew into the frame as I took the photo. I love this angle with the arches soaring up and away, and then the bird soaring along in the sky. There was a whole lot of soaring going on that day.

  1. Very nice image Kari! I too like the arches and the dark areas on the underside of the bridge. The bird soaring really caps it off and adds another focal point. Quoting Tozer is always good too! Nice post. :)

  4. Thanks Eve,
It's funny, but I don't think I spotted the bird until recently. Sometimes I'm not too observant. :)

  5. Kari:

the trick is to take something you didn't notice before, and make special mention that you took the photo because of the bird

  6. Bobskoot and Kari,

See bobskoot's comment. No, the secret is to have a photo that didn't turn out like you expected then call it ART. Don't you remember what you both taught me?

    Kari,

I get behind a few days and you change the blog look. I wondered if you had changed to a one a day photo blog for a bit

The comment about the dark area of the bridge reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw riding back from Portland today.

It said: Come over to the Dark Side. We have cookies.

Interestingly, so does your blog. That Valentine's Day post? Tasty!!!

  7. Thanks Bobscoot,
I will remember that next time :)
I should have ample opportunity as I often find things will sneak into my photos when I'm not looking, only to be discovered later on the computer screen.

    Hi Irondad,
What can I say...I must be slipping.

Some days it's a photo blog. Other days a motorcycle blog. Sometimes I sneak in a bicycle ride or a kayak trip (when the water warms up). staying on topic is not one of my strong suits. :)

The bumper sticker, I like it!

  8. Kari:

don't sweat it. I went back to your profile info and you do not have a "Mission Statement". Just your blog title which is your "Journey". Therefore your journey could be to photograph or ride, or cycle, whatever you do along the way.

Look what has happened to Mr Irondad's blog. From a manly Motorcycle blog to photographing babies, fountains, tanks, people in malls, and now ART images. He even drove his truck to dinner the other day

  9. Nope, no mission statement...not much of a profile either if I remember right...haven't got around to it yet. Bit of a procrastinator am I. :)

Yes, Irondad seems to be on the slippery slope to "sensitive artsy guy" but driving the truck...it's almost too painful to bear. ;)
