Ride while Ron worked

Image
Jefferson to Albany with return via Buena Vista ferry. So when I returned home I found this: A giant gaping hole in my house! Ron and the guys have been busy.  Garage and apartment. Soon to be double garage.  Original siding. Hello lead paint.  The guys covered up the opening. Ron has some prep work to do before the garage door installer arrives. Can’t wait to see it when it’s finished. It will be so different.  Edited 11/14/19 to add finished photos: New garage doors - What a change! Before (Google-because we forgot to take a before pic)

Saturday Bike Ride

Image
Well, that was miserable. Solo ride today. I've had a cold and didn't want to spread the contagion. I started from my own front door. It was terrible. I felt terrible. Slow. No energy. This should be a relatively easy ride. Though I've been fighting a cold, it had only slowed me down a little these past few days. Not today. The Water Wheel That mofo 15% grade corner on Green Mountain. Glad I was going down. I felt a little better when I got down on the flat lands. That was the best part of the ride. Easy peasy. My old swimming hole. Not today Two Barns Sadly, she who rides down the hill, must ride back up the hill. My easiest route home is rolling hills that roll upward back to my house. Those hills killed me. I stopped, and had a gel then crawled my way back home. Later I took my temp and it was 99.8 and my heart rate is a little elevated. So yeah, probably sick. DIY Redneck Garden Art

Image
Adding some cheap-ass bling to the gardens. What did I learn? That I don't have enough patience for spray paint. I hope I don't turn into one of those people who has hundreds of yard ornaments scattered all over the yard.

Update

Image
I'm so far behind on this blog! So much we've done. Well Star water and Nugent drilling came in, one nasty, rainy day, and installed a submersible pump, updated the lines, and capped off the well. So nice to have this done. No pics. Flooring, sheetrock, HVAC is all moving along and getting scheduled in. Ron, Rick, and Dad are prepping everything so Tony Frey can do the drywall. We're doing basically everything. In the bedrooms, they might be able to just mud over the tape and tidy up the walls, or may just cover like we're doing elsewhere. Wood Floors: Rabi/Midvalley will be doing the wood floors and is scheduled to start early December. Jose will start on the HVAC after that. Bathroom : The Bathroom has disappeared. Nothing but joists and studs. Sad to see the cast iron tub go. I would keep it if it were not green. Just can't do the green! We may try to keep the vanity if we can spruce it up enough and recover the formica. Otherwise it gets replaced too. Guess it...

Open Sesame

This weekend was a weekend of openings. Opening the front hall closet that will be turned into a mini-mudroom with bench and coat hooks. The other big opening was scarier. Creating a new doorway between the kitchen and living room. We were undecided on this, but figure punch a hole and see what we think. Easy enough to close it back up if we hate it. My gut reaction was " I think I'm gonna like it! " As the day wore on I liked it even more. Can't wait to get it framed up proper and knock the those studs out. Tomorrow (Tuesday) we have a floor refinisher coming to give us an estimate on the wood floors. Foyer Closet Opening: Demo and framing. New Opening from Living Room to Kitchen:
