There hasn't been much riding lately, but I rode to work  on Monday. Cold (20 something) and sunny. I haven't ridden in this kind of cold before, but the cold wasn't the problem. Ice was.  Frosty stuff from some other day Not ice on the road (though there was some of that), but ice on my faceshield. I had a few miles of fog which always mists up on my faceshield. On this day it didn't mist up, it iced up. Note to self...toss an ice scraper into the tank bag, Sheesh! I wiped it away as best I could, and even stopped a couple times to give it a good scrub. At the freeway I was back to sunshine and the rest of the ride was pleasant if a little cold. Once again, it's just good to be on two wheels. Pack an Ice Scraper? Goals 2010 One of my goals for the year was to ride at least 12,000 miles by motorcycle. Ron and I started out with a competition between us, but we lost track along the way. Sam passed a milestone recently - 10,010 miles. I missed it by 10 miles. I'm pretty sure that it happened on the commute home in the dark and rain, so my excuse is that I was a bit distracted. It went unoticed until today when I went out to check mileage/gas in case of riding tomorrow, and there it was. 10,000 miles with Sam. My goal for the year was 12,000 miles total and with the mileage from the Suzuki I've gotten 13,269 so far. A respectable amount for a commuter I think, and who knows, I may get a few more miles before year's end. I think. I can safely say Sam now has more mileage than some Ninjas will see in a lifetime.

I've never been a goal setter. I'm incredibly undisciplined. If I set a goal I will most likely change it on a whim, so why bother. But with everyone posting some of their plans for 2010 I thought maybe I should give it a go. I put a pathetically low number of miles on the motorcycle last year. I don't know what happened! 2008 I started riding and I don't think I drove the car all summer. I was a passenger in the car, but when I had to drive, I chose to ride. So this year I aspire to ride more. I'd be happy with 12,000 miles. (Might have to take a tour to get the numbers up - oh darn!) On that note, I've thrown down the gauntlet and issued a challenge to my darling hubby. Actually it's more like I was bragging about riding to work more than him and his taking it as a challenge.
