Apple Daze - Perhaps our last sunny weekend

The ride to Detering Orchard is one of my favorite rides. The weather has been spectacular this fall, and Saturday was no exception. It was a crisp, cold start in the morning, but eventually the day warmed up. We were joined by a few folks from MVBC making for a fairly sizable group of riders for the day.

A little bit of Mopar in my life - Dodge Charger
Not ours. Our car is in the shop for a couple of days, getting a boo-boo fixed (minor fender bump, minimal damage). Ron requested a little economy car, but this is what they gave us. Sadly it's not the hemi (after all if you aren't going to have an econo-car, you may as well have the hemi!).  It's rather peppy none the less. Sam will take this week off. :)

    1. Thanks Martha
I don't think I mentioned it, but they had apple cobbler too! Life if definitely good! :)

  2. The produce stand looks wonderful but I think that a nice pumpkin would've fit just fine on someone else's bike....

Those partial fenders on your bike look pretty useful. Who makes them?

    1. I just let Ron haul the heavy stuff. He usually has a rack and an extra pannier to two. :)

The fenders are SKS for road bikes. Easy to mount with stretchy bands around the fork & stays. They aren't as good as real fenders, but better than nothing.

I liked all those apples. I would probably have bought some and asked you to carry them home for me. My weak legs are barely able to propel me let alone a couple more lbs of weight.

Last week was probably our last great weekend of this season too. Warm during the day

    1. This is why I don't have extra bags on my bike...so I don't pack everything home! :) Every year we say we should have a SAG wagon to haul home the bounty, but we never do.

  5. Perfect day for the festival and the ride. I keep thinking about pumpkins and apples in saddlebags. Hehe.

Love the Charger. Moose had one when he was in CA. It was the six cylinder, was very peppy, and extremely good on fuel mileage! Have fun with it while you can.

    1. We had the Charger only for 3 days. Good thing too, because we were getting attached to all that power! Our Son had to move it out of our driveway one day. Next thing we saw was him disappearing down the road. He did bring it back eventually :)

  6. What a great ride on the pedal bikes. The colors of those fruit and veggies look so nice and tasty too.

If you whisper Go Beavs to the Duck dog do you think he'd bite?

    1. I love all the colors and variety. I only took a few quick pics, but I think I could spend all day there with camera in hand.

lol- I'm not sure if he'd bite, but I don't think I'll take the chance. I wondered if the owners knew that Labradors usually hunt ducks. I thought it best not to mention it! ;)

  7. Dear BlueKat:

I love apple season best of all... especially when the orchards are attached to bakeries with over-stuffed apple pies on the counter. Pumpkins are cool too. I love carving then for Halloween. Too bad the best pumpkin pies come from Hubbard squash. I hope you have a thousand sunny fall days.

      Pumpkin pies - mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I only have it this time of year, and I just realized how much I miss it. I don't think I've had it with Hubbard squash...may have to check that out! :)

  8. Looks like a great day for a ride and great destination. As a Mopar fan I also love the color on the Charger.

    1. Hi Troubadour,
The Charger was a blast, but it was a good thing to give it back. I'm not wanting to buy a new car right now and we were getting addicted to all that power. :)

    1. Hi Sonja,
It was a pretty cool color. I've started to notice a few other cars with the same color. Must be the trend :)
