Thursday is one of two rest days we will be taking in Golden, Colorado. May's daughter, Beth and granddaughter, Elise took us shopping and exploring downtown Golden. May is a quilter so we stopped by the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. On display were contemporary quilts by Gwen Marston, and Native American portraits by Patsy Heacox. The quilts were quite different in styles and all were beautiful.
Afterwords we visited an art gallery featuring local artists, as well as gift shop, and of course a stop for some iced coffee. We took a walk along Clear Creek which is swollen with run off right now. Some areas along the shore were flooded.
Before we returned home, Beth took us up Lookout Mountain to enjoy the views of the city. Cyclists and runners were making their way up the mountain for their afternoon exercise. Paragliders were making their way down the mountain, gliding on the thermals down to the valley below.
